Deciding between wood fencing or chain link may not be as easy as it seems, since each type has its own great features to offer. Here are some of the considerations to keep in mind as you go through the process of deciding which type of fence to put around your yard:

Chain link is inexpensive to have installed and repaired: If money is an issue, then you may want to go with a chain link fence. It will usually be less expensive to initially have installed and normally less expensive to have repaired should it be damaged. Also, chain link is more durable and weather resistant, so there is even a decreased chance that you will even need to have it repaired in the near future.

Wooden fences come in many styles: When you go with chain link fencing, you do have some options. You can choose different heights, different sizes for the linkage and even choose between a few different basic colors. However, when you are going with a wooden fence you have many different choices available to you. You can choose from many types of wood, different heights, different choices with regards to the spaces between each slat and much more. You can even incorporate other materials with your wooden fence, such as brick pillars or wrought iron toppers.

You can change the look of both types of fencing: While you may immediately think you have more choices with a wooden fence with regards to changing its look, you can actually do quite a bit to change the appearance of both types. It is true that you can stain and even paint a wooden fence, but you can also paint a chain link fence. You can hang decorations from a wooden fence, but you can use rolled wood on a chain link fence to give it a different look.

You can add security to your home with both types of fencing: Both chain link and wooden fences put up a barrier between your property and those interested in gaining access to it. Since you have some options to make chain link fencing harder to see through, both can also hide your belongings from prying eyes.

Both types also contain dogs: as long as you choose a tall enough fence you can count on it to help contain your dogs in your yard. Make sure you don't set things too close to the fence, no matter which type you go with, or your dog can climb right over and get free.
