Chain Link Fencing Can Be Dressed Up
ShareIf you are thinking about getting a chain link fence, but you aren't sure if it is going to be a good fit, then you'll be glad to learn that there are things you can do to give it a different look. This will help you to fit the fence into the rest of your yard, or even help it to match the look of your home.
You can paint a chain link fence any color you want: If you have a white house with blue trim, then you may think it would look great to also have a matching blue fence. This can help make the fence look like it is an additional part of the house, rather than its own entity.
It will be easiest to paint the chain link with spray paint than it would be to use a brush. It's a good idea to tape plastic along one side of the fence while you paint the other. Once the paint dries then you can reverse the plastic and do the other side.
To get down by the grass, you can take a piece of cardboard, or another long and flat object, smash the grass down with it and spray along the bottom part of the fence. Remember to do this on a day that's relatively warm and that doesn't have a lot of wind.
Install a covering over the chain link fencing: There are quite a few different types of coverings you can install along the fence to change its appearance. One of the popular choices is a covering you roll along the fence that looks like bamboo. However, there are also ones that look like green foliage. You will find that you can easily install these coverings with the help of just one more person. However, you can do it yourself if it's necessary.
Install slats along the chain link: You can also purchase slats that you can install in the fencing. You can get slats that look like plastic or you can go with ones that have a wood look to them. These take a bit longer to install than the other covering you simply roll in place and attach, but the slats give you a specific look that you may be aiming for. You can also choose them in all different colors. Keep in mind, if you live in an area with extreme heat, these can be prone to becoming brittle.
